Frequently asked questions

Why do my teeth look darker as I age?

There are many physical and environmental factors that control the color of our teeth. By using proper daily oral hygiene measures, teeth may appear more white by removal of daily stain and plaque. As we age, the outer layer of our teeth, the enamel, starts to wear away, and exposes the inner, darker layer of our teeth, called the dentin. To help slow down the staining process try to avoid heavily pigmented food and drinks such as: red wine, coffee, tea, smoking, medications, genetic factors, et

How white will my teeth get?

Results vary from person to person. The 1-Hour Whitening Procedure will get clients anywhere from 3-12 shades lighter. Results can last from 3-12 months depending on daily habits and diet.

Can I whiten a filling or crown?

Any fillings on front teeth have showed excellent whitening results. Crowns/Veneers do not usually whiten.

When is the best time to whiten?

The best time to whiten is right after a cleaning, when your teeth are free of plaque and bacteria.

Will my teeth get sensitive?

Tooth sensitivity varies from person to person. If sensitivity occurs, using a sensitive toothpaste before, during and after using whitening products will help minimize it. Sensitivity from whitening products is temporary. While whitening, the pores of our teeth are open up on a microscopic level so stimulus will travel to the nerve more quickly resulting in sensitivity.

Can I get white spots from whitening?

White spots that show up after whitening are called demineralization. Teeth whitening does not cause these spots, it may make these spots more visible because they were covered with stain prior to whitening.

How much does teeth whitening usually cost?

Teeth whitening at a dental office costs about $500 and up. iWhiten varies between $199-249, depending on which treatment is chosen.

What is the difference between the 1-hour procedure and the take home kit?

The 1-hour procedure offers instant results following the treatment. A professional strength of hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth under a blue LED light for 1 hour. The take home kit allows you to whiten on your own. A professional strength carbamide peroxide gel is applied to the teeth for a total of 25 minutes each use for up to 20 uses. Results for the take home kit are noticeable after 2 consecutive uses.

What is the difference between hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide gel

Hydrogen peroxide, (HP) and carbamide peroxide, (CP), are the two main whitening ingredients. The higher concentration of HP, the stronger your results will be. Carbamide peroxide gel takes time to breakdown into hydrogen peroxide. Therefore, it will take more uses to see strong results.

Can I return my product and get a refund?
